One would’ve thought that losing star quarterback Bradley Starks (currently a freshman QB at West Virginia) would have taken a serious toll on the Orange County varsity football squad this season, but that simply hasn’t been the case with 6-2, 185-pound junior Quintin Hunter taking over the helm. Hunter’s playmaking skills and big-time athleticism were evident last Friday, when he racked up 361 yards passing and 153 yards rushing in a 61-42 loss to Monticello.

A first-team all-district defensive back and the team’s go-to wide receiver last season as a sophomore, Hunter also served as the back-up quarterback before becoming the starter this season.

“He has done a great job so far,” Orange County head coach John Kayajanian said of Hunter, who has played on the varsity level since his freshman year. “He played wide receiver and defensive back last year, but he has learned to become a quarterback. He is a great athlete. He is a smooth athlete. It comes natural to him. He runs well and cuts well. He has a nose for the football.”
