UVa Vs. UConn Scouting Report: UConn Offense

For the third time this season, the Hoos could be one of the biggest games of the year for an opponent. The Cavaliers have been the headlining target for Wyoming and Middle Tennessee on the road and now are the “biggest game of the year” for a third opponent, this time in the friendly confines of Scott Stadium.

Simply put, this is a huge game for UConn – playing an established BCS program, one that is on a roll on the road. For Connecticut fans and players this is a statement, a defining moment for how far the program has come or an indication of how far it still needs to go.

The offense is led by JUCO transfer Tyler Lorenzen who made his Division 1A debut in Durham against the Blue Devils back on Sept. 1. He was impressive in leading the Huskies to a 45-14 win on his way to earning Big East weekly honor roll mention after; he completed 22 of 30 passes for 298 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for 56 yards, giving him 354 total yards on the day.

Connecticut’s offense also features a pair of dynamic running backs that have combined for 623 rushing yards and an impressive 5.1 yards per carry.
