UVa Vs. Wake Forest Scouting Report: Special Teams

If it seems like the Virginia football team has faced dangerous returners on special teams a lot this season, that’s because it has. Duke’s Jabari Marshall, North Carolina’s Brandon Tate, Middle Tennessee State’s Desmond Gee and Damon Nickson, and N.C. State’s Darrell Blackman all have impressive credentials. This week, you can add Wake Forest’s Kevin Marion and Kenny Moore to the list.

Marion took over the national lead in kickoff returns this week after another strong showing against North Carolina a week ago. Marion had two kick returns, one touchdown romp of 98 yards and another set-up run of 83. He now averages 33.9 yards per return.

Color Al Groh impressed.

“He clocked 10.2 in the 100 meters. Who in college football runs that? The kickoff return that he had last week was over and done before it got started,” he said.
