Coach Discusses Owah’s Decision

After a tough year recruiting the state of Virginia in the 2008 class, the University of Virginia football staff got off to a great start in the 2009 class with a commitment from 5-11, 170-pound Harrisonburg star running back Alex Owah . After considering an early decision for several months, Owah pledged to the staff this past Saturday. He informed his head coach, Tim Sarver, of his decision yesterday.

“Very honestly, making up his mind this early, he had to have made this decision based on the fact that he really wanted to be there,” Sarver said. “He narrowed it down to Virginia Tech, Virginia and James Madison. He had been thinking about it for awhile. He and his dad thought about this decision and felt like Virginia was the best fit for him.”

Coach Sarver, who said he is “sure” that Virginia Tech and James Madison also had extended scholarship offers, believes his star’s commitment is very solid.
