Great Bridge (Chesapeake, VA) head coach Pete Gale says defensive lineman/offensive lineman Michael Price “caught fire” about halfway through the 2006 season. Coach Gale was referring to Price’s dedication to football, in terms of commitment on and off the field. The 6-5, 260-pound senior credits a fellow teammate as part of the inspiration.

“Our quarterback, Casey Turner , had been starting since his sophomore year,” Price said. “He is now committed to U-Conn. Seeing all the scouts and people looking at him, I wanted that and I thought I had the ability to get that. That sparked me, so I owe a lot to him.”

Price, who played varsity football at Deep Creek his freshman year but missed a good amount of his sophomore season at Great Bridge due to a transfer rule, started at defensive tackle his junior season. After a very good offseason, he became a starter on both sides of the ball his senior year. He would go on to earn first-team all-Southeastern district honors at offensive tackle and second-team all-district honors at defensive end.
