George Washington (Danville, VA) running back David Wilson is not just one of the top running backs in the state of Virginia’s 2009 class. He is quickly becoming one of the top overall prospects in the state, having received 10 Division 1A scholarship offers including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

One week ago today, Virginia Tech became the most recent school to offer the 5-11, 190-pound prospect.

“I think he is excited about any of the offers he has, especially to hear from somebody so close,” GW-Danville head coach Dan Newell said of Virginia Tech’s offer. “The people at Virginia Tech have respect for our program and the kids we have, so it means a lot to him. But, he is remaining very open right now. He is gathering information. His parents are getting a feel for these schools. He has already been to Virginia Tech’s campus a couple of times for track meets, so he is familiar with it but maybe not as much as he would like. For now, Tech certainly is in the mix. The connections to our school, the proximity to home and the nature of the program all play into it, but he is purposely trying to stay away from naming favorites right now.”
