Just days until Lorne Park (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) begins its preseason training camp and less than two weeks until the start of school, University of Virginia recruit Brent Urban , a 6-7 defensive end prospect, is putting the finishing touches on what has been a successful offseason. In addition to accepting a full scholarship offer to UVa, Urban has really developed physically and is very confident heading into his senior season.

“I’ve been doing a lot of weightlifting. I’ve put on a decent amount of weight, actually. I’m weighing 280 right now, so I’ve gained a bunch of weight. I’ve also been running a lot,” said Urban, who played last season at around 265 pounds. “I think the weightlifting has helped a lot. I’m doing a lot of leg lifting, so I definitely feel faster even though I’ve gained weight pretty fast. I wanted to make sure I put on good weight. I’m trying to stay up around 280.”

Urban also amused himself this summer by playing other sports, including a few pick-up hockey games. Hockey is still fun for Urban, who played organized hockey early on in his high school career, but he is anxious to step on the gridiron for his senior season.
