Zeglinski Developing At Point

Replacing a point guard is never easy. Replacing a player as a rookie that has essentially run a team’s offense for three seasons is certainly demanding. When that player happens to be Sean Singletary , it can be a daunting task. But that was the challenge redshirt freshman Sammy Zeglinski, a high school teammate of Singletary’s, faced entering the 2008-09 Cavalier basketball season.

That wasn’t the original plan. Zeglinski arrived in Charlottesville last season as the heir apparent to Singletary and the idea was to ease him along, integrating the 6- foot guard with the team and allowing him to get comfortable with the offense and the players around him. Zeglinski averaged 18.9 points per game as a senior at The William Penn Charter School for head coach Jim Phillips and concluded his career with 1,642 points overall.
