6-5, 155-pound guard Brian Richardson turned in an excellent junior season, averaging 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game in leading Greenfield (Wilson, N.C.) to a 31-4 record. Moreover, he added scholarship offers from Marquette and N.C. State to previous offers from UNC-Wilmington and South Carolina. UVa had offered as well until the coaching change, but Richardson hadn’t been contacted by the new staff until this week.

“Actually, my coach told me [yesterday] that a coach from Virginia called for me,” Richardson said. “They said they are sorry for the inconvenience of not getting in touch with me right away.”

Richardson visited Virginia while the former staff was in place, but obviously the primary importance right now is learning what plans the new staff has in store. He is not sure if the new staff will offer, but he looks forward to talking to them.
