Before arriving in Charlottesville on July 6th, University of Virginia incoming freshman Corey Lillard is suiting up for the United States in the IFAF Junior World Championships. Lillard, a 5-11, 205-pound safety out of Liberty (Bealeton, VA), arrived in Canton (OH) on June 13th and has been practicing with the US squad ever since. How have things gone so far?
“I feel like I’m playing very well,” Lillard said. “Being able to come out and compete against top notch high school talent has been great. There are so many talented kids on this team. It’s crazy. I feel like I’m starting to click more with making the calls and checks and everything. I feel like I’m reading the ball well. I’m starting to break better, too, and come downhill on plays.”
