UVa has reeled in verbal commitment number nine. According to the Roanoke Times, 6-1, 255-pound Chris Brathwaite , a linebacker/defensive line prospect out of Holy Cross High School (Flushing, N.Y.), has become the latest to pledge to head coach Al Groh’s 2010 recruiting class.
Brathwaite has played defensive tackle and offensive guard in high school, earning honorable mention all-Queens honors on defense last season as a junior. He will be Al Groh’s second recruit out of Holy Cross High School, which produced standout wide receiver Kevin Ogletree .
Virginia, which has received four new commitments in a week’s time, now has seven out-of-state commitments and two in-state commitments in the class. Position-wise, UVa has scored five defensive prospects and four offensive players.
