Front Seven Keys Strong Outing For D

Nate Collins and UVa’s front seven on defense shut down UNC’s offense.

After being blasted for 417 rushing yards and 68 points in two games, Virginia’s defense had to sit through a bye week and figure out how to turn things around. There were plenty of areas to think about – bad penalties, linebackers in pass coverage, and better run containment to name a few. In particular, though, the front seven had to do a better job of disrupting the opponent’s offense to give a talented secondary more time and confidence to operate.

The first game out of the bye week addressed that need as UVa’s defense dominated North Carolina along the line of scrimmage as part of a 16-3 win in Chapel Hill.
