Junior Season Success Continues for Turner

Three games into the 2009 season, 6-5, 310-pound offensive tackle Landon Turner , returning from a broken ankle that kept him out of the entire 2008 season, felt good about the way he was performing on the gridiron. Five games later, the Harrisonburg (VA) junior says that he has continued to improve throughout the year.

“I have continued on the right track,” said Turner, who has helped the Blue Streaks to a 7-1 overall record. “I didn’t have my best game offensively last week [in a 20-0 win over Spotswood], but I took care of it. I missed a few blocks, but I’m getting better. I’m doing better this week. I just need to keep on playing.”

Known more for his play on offense, Turner is now starting to contribute more on the defensive side of the ball. Last week, he picked up his first sack of the season and now is slotted to start on both sides of the ball the rest of the season.
