DeMatha FB Recruiting Notes

Nationally recognized prep football program DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) has eight seniors with at least one FBS offer, including three that have committed to major FBS programs. The talent continues to flow in for head coach Bill McGregor, who’ll likely continue to produce powerful programs in the seasons to come.

The Stags, ranked #16 in this week’s USA Today Super 25, have finished the regular season with a 10-0 record and will face Gonzaga in the semifinals of the WCAC playoffs. From a leadership perspective, one of the biggest assets McGregor has is senior defensive back Kyrrel Latimer , a Virginia commitment.

“I think the number one thing about him is that he’s a great competitor,” said McGregor, who also uses Latimer as a wide receiver and return specialist. “He loves to compete. He’s a high-energy guy. He is a very good leader. He’s great to have in practice because he can pick people up and keep going. We name co-captains each week and I could name him every week if I wanted to. Last week we were flat in practice, but he was there to pick up everyone. I told him how special a young man he is. He goes outside his self. He is always happy and smiling.”

The 5-10, 195-pound Latimer remains solid in the commitment he gave to the Cavaliers in June.
