Sherando’s Hall Talks QB’s Prospects in 2010

Unless high school senior Michael Strauss can gain January admission, Virginia figures to have three, maybe four scholarship players at quarterback this coming spring. Of the group, only rising senior Marc Verica has any regular season experience at quarterback. The starting spot appears up for grabs, but Sherando (Stephens City, VA) head coach Bill Hall is confident that his former star can get the job done.

“I have so much confidence in Ross,” said Hall, referring to former Sherando star and current Virginia freshman Ross Metheny . The 6-2, 195-pound prospect will be a red-shirt freshman next season, joining Verica, rising sophomore Riko Smalls and the freshman Strauss. Rising sophomore Quintin Hunter , who is currently slotted at receiver, could also be in the mix.

“I know he’ll be successful. I just hope he stays healthy. He plays at nothing but 100 percent. I think that bodes well for him. I know once he gets an opportunity, he’ll be successful.”
