ACC Programs Offer Top L.C. Bird Junior

Anthony Harris has proven to be a big-time player for L.C. Bird (Chesterfield, VA), and college coaches have taken notice. The 6-3, 185-pound junior, an AP Group AAA first-team all-state selection at defensive back, already has been offered by three FBS programs with more likely will follow suit as the year goes on.

“He has already been offered by Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland,” Bird head coach David Bedwell said.

“Anthony didn’t play his freshman year, but he had a great year his sophomore year. He had an unbelievable junior year. He had an injury at the end of the year, so we didn’t have him for the playoffs. We were 10-0 with him and 0-1 without him. He’ll probably be one of the most highly recruited players we’ve ever had here.”

Bedwell was confident in Harris’ defensive abilities heading into this past season. Harris didn’t disappoint, hauling in six interceptions in 2009. It was the junior’s performance at quarterback that came as a pleasant surprise.
