Maury (Norfolk, VA) offensive tackle/defensive tackle Stephen Lawe moved from being a strong lean to a Virginia commitment last Friday, when he pledged to Cavaliers coach Mike London. The 6-5, 290-pound senior was one of the first prospects offered by London at UVa.
“I felt good about making the commitment,” Lawe said. “Virginia is the right school for me. I think it’ll be a better program with coach London there. He’s a good start for the Cavaliers.”
Lawe committed a week after making an official visit to Old Dominion, which was the other finalist. He admits, though, that Virginia “has been on my mind for a while. UVa and ODU have been on my mind, but UVa is in a better conference and I feel UVa is a better school education-wise.”
Having already committed should make this weekend’s official visit all the more enjoyable.
