Oscar Smith LB Awaits First Offer

Linebacker Raysean Richardson earned AP Group AAA second-team all-state honors last season, which was his third year as a starter on Oscar Smith’s (Chesapeake, VA) varsity football squad. The 6-0, 210-pound junior has produced at a high level for one of the state’s top high school football programs, but that first FBS offer has yet to arrive.

If necessary, Richardson will participate in spring and summer camps to earn scholarships.

“I plan on going to some camps this year, but I’m still going to wait and see who offers me before then,” said Richardson, who tallied 88 tackles including 22 tackles for loss and eight sacks last season as a junior.

Oscar Smith’s last highly recruited linebacker was Jerod Askew , who is now on scholarship at the University of Tennessee. A humble personality, Richardson shied away from any comparisons with the current Volunteers freshman.
