There is no question that Menchville (Newport News, VA) star junior Clifton Richardson had a great time visiting the University of Virginia yesterday. What has been in question is just how solid the commitment he gave Cavaliers head coach Mike London is at this point. TheSabre.com caught up with Menchville head coach John Byron for the latest.

“Clifton is very interested in the University of Virginia and could definitely see himself deciding on UVa as the school he wants to go to, but right now he is going to spend more time making sure he makes the right decision. I wouldn’t be surprised if the decision comes sooner rather than later. Being down in the environment at a junior day is not always the best time to make a decision. Sometimes it’s better to talk it over with family and those others close to you and then go from there,” said Byron.

According to Byron, Richardson spoke with coach London today to further discuss the decision.

“For one, he thinks very highly of UVa and the new coaching staff and I think that plays a key role in him having high interest there,” Byron said. “He did have a conversation with coach London from what I understand and told him that UVa is extremely high on his list right now. He just wants to make sure he’s making the right decision before making anything final. That could be a week or several months…I don’t know.”
