Virginia Beach Standout Commits To UVa

Defensive tackle is a need in Virginia’s 2011 class, and today the Cavaliers scored a commitment from one of the state’s best junior prospects. Green Run (Virginia Beach, VA) standout David Dean , a 6-2, 285-pound junior, verbally committed to Mike London’s program today.

“I really could see myself there at Virginia. Actually, I committed,” said Dean, who spoke with head coach Mike London, defensive line coach Jeff Hanson and primary recruiter Chip West today to inform them of his decision. “I talked to the coaches and they were all excited. They wanted to have me up there.”

Dean, who also had offers from Boston College, Duke, Louisville, Marshall and West Virginia, favored Virginia prior to visiting yesterday for the football junior day.

“It was a real good visit,” Dean said. “I talked to coach London, coach West, coach Hanson, coach Reid…it was really good to talk to all of them. I had talked to coach Reid beforehand and got to know coach Hanson really well yesterday. The campus is good. Yesterday’s game was really good. The academics are great.”
