Manchester (Midlothian, VA) offensive lineman Jake Goins received an offer from Virginia Tech last Thursday, less than a week after attending Virginia Tech’s junior day. On Saturday, he attended the University of Virginia’s junior day event. The 6-5, 280-pound junior discusses his latest offer and his latest visit.

Goins enjoyed his time in Blacksburg on February 27, saying last week, “I like Tech a lot. It is probably one of my favorites. It is a great school with great fans. I can tell the coaches care about the players, which is really cool. I still have to check out things with Virginia with the new coaching staff, but I like Tech a lot. I’m sure UVa will be cool, too.”

Of the Virginia Tech offer, he said, “I was excited to find out and glad to get it out of the way.”

For now, Virginia Tech is offering Goins a grey-shirt opportunity, meaning he would sign with the 2011 class but enroll in January of 2012. He seems open to the idea.
