Hermitage Notes: Riddick, Bailey Visit UVa

Linebacker Curtis Grant is without doubt the headliner of Hermitage (Richmond, VA) varsity football’s junior class, but Panthers head coach Patrick Kane boasts other standout talents as well. First-team Times-Dispatch all-metro cornerback Brandon Rogers and second-team all-metro selections Diamonte Bailey and Brendan Riddick are also drawing interest from FBS programs.

Rogers enjoyed a big junior season, totaling seven pass break-ups and six interceptions. The 5-9, 175-pound prospect also racked up 40 tackles including five tackles for loss.

Brandon Rogers , Virginia Tech is real high on him,” Kane said. “They want to see him come to one of their one-day camps so they can see him in person. He is not the six foot tall corner some coaches are stuck on, but the kid can really play. For a school like Virginia Tech to rank Brandon highly says a lot because Tech has had a lot of success at that position. Tech’s corners play well.

“This was Brandon’s third year starting at corner. He is physical, a hard hitter. He does a great job in coverage. He is also a clutch player. He had two picks in our first round playoff win this year. He steps up to the challenge.”
