Harris One To Watch In 2011

Hylton (Woodbridge, VA) cornerback Iric Harris , a talented athlete who has been timed in the 40 in under 4.5 seconds, turned in a solid 2008 season with four interceptions. The 5-10, 175-pound junior missed the entire 2009 season, however, and is now on the road to recovery.

“He is a fantastic player and a great kid,” said former Hylton head coach Lou Sorrentino, who accepted the head coaching position at Mountain View High School (Stafford, VA) earlier this year. “Iric is the most talented player I’d had in a few years. The bad news is that he blew a knee out in our second scrimmage last summer, so he didn’t play a down in his junior year.”

When healthy, Harris is a dynamic athlete according to his former coach.

“He is really talented. He is really explosive,” Sorrentino said. “He has great feet and great hands. Coach Poindexter and Virginia know about him. Louisville and N.C. State know about him. A lot remains to be seen as far as getting his explosion back, but he is a natural corner with great technique. We were going to feature him on offense this past year, to get the ball in his hands.”
