Carolina Challenge: Rountree Has UVa Interest

Beddingfield High School (Wilson, N.C.) product Aaron Rountree averaged 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds per game this past season as a junior, earning first-team all-conference and first-team all-area honors. The 6-7 small forward is on the radar of at least three Division 1 programs, including Virginia.

“Virginia, VCU and N.C. State all have shown a lot of interest. I’m just trying to work hard to get more looks,” Rountree said. “I’ve taken unofficials to Virginia, VCU, N.C. State, Elon and we visited UNC-Wilmington as an AAU team.”

Virginia recently came into the picture with Rountree, who plans to attend Elite Camps at N.C. State, Virginia and VCU later this year.

“They’re just showing a lot of interest right now. They haven’t offered yet,” Rountree said of the Cavaliers staff. “They just started recruiting me last month. Coach Sanchez said he really wants to get to know me before offering me.”
