Virginia Beach OL Leaning To UVa

A week after scoring a scholarship offer from head coach Mike London, 6-5, 290-pound offensive lineman Ross Burbank returned to the University of Virginia, visiting for the third time this year. Burbank, a junior out of Cox High School in Virginia Beach (VA), had a good experience at yesterday’s Spring Football Festival.

“I got to sit in on a team meeting where Coach London was talking to the guys,” said Burbank, who joined other top in-state linemen such as Harrisonburg’s Landon Turner and T.C. Williams’ Jay Whitmire at UVa yesterday. “I think the cool thing about yesterday was that the players were up tempo and excited, ready to prove themselves. I talked to the coaches and I got to talk to Coach London in his office a little bit, which was cool. All in all, it was pretty good to see everyone flying around. The scrimmage was pretty cool.”

Burbank enjoyed his time yesterday, but he won’t soon forget the experience he had on April 3. That day, the second-team all-Beach district lineman attended Virginia’s spring practice and learned that he had a scholarship offer.

“Coach London pulled me aside and told me he wanted me to envision myself being in a Virginia uniform, playing with my family watching and being part of the new experience at Virginia,” Burbank said. “Then he told me he was offering me. I was pretty surprised. I knew they were interested, but I didn’t expect an offer this early.
