Depth Chart Discussion Spring 2010: Offense

Marc Verica tops the list at QB after UVa’s spring practices.

The Virginia football team released a post-spring depth chart Monday afternoon (click here for the PDF link), giving fans their first glimpse of who made good impressions during Mike London’s first practices at UVa this spring. Oh, it also gives football diehards something to talk about while sitting through the long wait for fall practices! So let’s do just that and take a look at the offensive side of the depth chart.

Quarterback

Starting with the glamour position, there’s no surprise to see Marc Verica at the top of the list. Despite a Spring Game outing with two interceptions, Verica looked like the most comfortable, most consistent quarterback at every other open practice in Charlottesville. New coach Mike London said numerous times this spring – and you’ll hear it more often as the summer and fall arrive – that the Cavaliers need someone at QB that can manage the game, lead the team, and be a solid performer. Verica has the best chance to accomplish those things simply because he’s been to this rodeo before and actually won games as a starting quarterback.
