Blue Chip Day: UVa Adds More DL Talent

Prior to today’s Blue Chip Prospect Day, Virginia had two defensive line commitments in the fold. Green Run (Virginia Beach, VA) defensive tackle David Dean and Hermitage (Richmond, VA) defensive end Diamonte Bailey got the d-line recruiting off to a good start, but UVa head coach Mike London added more talent during today’s Blue Chip Prospect Day.

UVa appears to have secured two top 2011 class prospects out of Maryland, a state Coach London and company would like to have success in recruiting. Marco Jones , a 6-3, 250-pound defensive end prospect out of Boys Latin School (Baltimore, MD), didn’t enter today’s Blue Chip Junior Day with the intention of committing, but an excellent experience swayed his decision. And he says he is shutting down his recruiting process.

“I just had a really good visit. I was talking to the coaches and I felt really good about it,” said Jones, who committed at the end of the day’s events. “Coach London was just asking anybody if they were ready to commit. He went over to me and I told him I was ready. He told everyone else. It was really nice.

“It feels good to have committed. It feels like a whole bunch of weight has been lifted.”
