Good Counsel Star Reflects On Commitment

Yesterday’s visit to the University of Virginia almost didn’t take place for Good Counsel (Olney, MD) star Vincent Croce . By day’s end, though, the 6-4, 265-pound defensive end prospect would become the second rising senior to commit to Cavaliers head coach Mike London following the conclusion of the Blue Chip Prospect Day.

“Honestly, I woke up and didn’t really want to make the trip down to Virginia,” Croce said. “I was tired. We had a 7-on-7 all day the day before. But when I got down there, I saw my friend Marco Jones from Boys’ Latin School. We were both down there hanging out. We saw a couple of things we hadn’t seen before at Virginia. At the end of the day, we were sitting there listening to Coach London talking. I know I felt myself buying into what he was saying. Marco and I talked before about what schools we liked and Virginia was a school that kept coming up. I sent him a text and asked if he was going to make a move and he kind of shook his head like he wasn’t sure. He was texting his mother and aunt and I was texting my parents. After Coach London finished talking, Marco gave his commitment. Then I walked up to Coach London and told him he had the second one of the day.
