6-1, 160-pound point guard Marcus Paige averaged about 15 points per game as a sophomore this past season, but at last week’s NBAPA Top 100 Camp he was asked to play the role of a traditional pass-first point guard. This was just fine with the rising junior standout, who has guided Linn-Mar (Marion, IA) to back to back second place finishes in the state.
“The distributing role is something they wanted the point guards to take on and I’ve embraced it. I’ve gotten other guys involved and I think I played pretty good. I like to control the tempo of the game and control as many parts as I can,” Paige said. “In most cases I’m a lot more aggressive, but as long as my team is winning everything’s fine with me.”
