Brown Goes With Childhood Favorite

Mike London and company’s stellar football recruiting run continued with St. Christopher’s (Richmond, VA) rising senior Thompson Brown , who will be the latest in his family to attend the University of Virginia. Brown, a 6-4, 225-pound defensive end prospect, has always been a UVa fan.

“It feels awesome to commit to the school I grew up watching,” said Brown, whose grandfather and father graduated from UVa. A brother attends the University of Virginia right now. “I’m excited. It’ll be awesome playing on the field I’ve seen games at all my life. I like everything about the school. I like Charlottesville. Tons of people I know can come watch me play. And it’s such a good school.”

Brown, a fan of former UVa star Chris Long , says it is not “set in stone” but believes he is being recruited as a defensive end. A phenomenal athlete, he recorded a 4.59-second 40, a 4.29-second shuttle and a 32.5-inch vertical leap at an Under Armour Combine in Charlotte this spring.

“That wasn’t just a good day,” St. Christopher’s head coach Michael Turner said. “He is that good all the time. Obviously, he has all the gifts and all the tools you look for. He has great speed and power. Some of that is natural, but at least half of that is through hard work. His work ethic is exemplary. He broke his arm right before the season last year and we caught him sneaking into the weight room when he should’ve been resting (laughs).
