Virginia’s receiving corps is arguably the most experienced and talented group on the offensive side of the ball this year. With potential questions at quarterback and offensive line, it will put pressure on the receivers to get open and make plays when opportunities present themselves. Focus has been on veterans Kris Burd , Jared Green and Dontrelle Inman to step it up, particularly with a new and more balanced offensive attack being implemented by offensive coordinator Bill Lazor.

One up-and-comer, sophomore Tim Smith , opened the eyes of coaches and fans alike during the season last year and over spring workouts. Smith played in all 11 games as a freshman, grabbing 15 passes for 204 yards in what often seemed to be a virtually non-existent passing attack. Still, one of Smith’s receptions was a 69-yarder for a touchdown, the team’s longest pass connection of 2009.
