Preseason Report: TE Darius Redman

Should H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.) repeat as Turkey Bowl champions, there is a good chance that senior Darius Redman would have played an important role. The 6-4, 239-pound Redman tight end is one of the team’s leaders and expects to be a major receiving target as well this season.

“I’d like to think of myself as the leader on defense and always the commander, like being the first one at each drill. Darius is exactly the same way on offense,” said H.D Woodson senior defensive back Adeboye Aromire, who has committed to Virginia Tech. “He plays tight end and X receiver. He has the 6-4, 230-pound frame. I haven’t seen anyone with that build and athleticism and with the field speed he has. I think he has the ability to split out at receiver on the next level.”

The leadership role is an important one to the University of Virginia-bound Redman.

“Me and Adeboye try to be on the field 10 or 15 minutes before we’re expected to,” Redman said. “When it’s time to do drills, we are the first ones there. We work hard every day.”
