Preseason Report: ATH Anthony Harris

A cracked leg bone in the final game of the regular season cost quarterback/cornerback Anthony Harris a chance at seeing how far he could lead L.C. Bird (Chesterfield, VA) into the Group AAA, Division 6 playoffs last season. Harris, now a senior, returned to game action in August when Bird faced Westfield (Chantilly) and Dinwiddie in preseason scrimmages.

“It feels good to be back on the field with my teammates,” said Harris. “I tried to sit back and let the game come to me. I didn’t try to make a lot of big plays. I wanted to see which newer guys on our team made some plays for us.”

Physically, the 6-3, 195-pound Harris is ready to go.

“I’ve been working hard in the offseason,” Harris said. “I’ve been working, pulling the sled, doing a lot of agility drills. Doing all that, I felt like I was back to normal. I felt good running around out there [in the scrimmage]. There was one busted play where I had to keep it myself and make a run. After getting tackled, I was ready to go.”
