LB Gray Set For Official Visit To UVa

The weekend of the Miami game figures to be a big one as far as University of Virginia football recruiting is concerned. TheSabre.com has already confirmed that linebacker Travis Hughes and cornerback Demetrious Nicholson , two of the Cavaliers top in-state targets, will be there on official visits. 6-1, 215-pound linebacker Troy Gray , a prospect out of North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, plans to make his official visit to UVa that weekend as well.

“I think my dad and my mom are going to go up there with me,” said Gray, who will be making his first ever trip to Charlottesville. “I’ll be looking at the academics, where I am position-wise, how the coaches are and also the atmosphere of the school. I don’t want to be at a place in the middle of nowhere. But every person I’ve talked to says it is beautiful up there. It excites me to have the chance to be part of it.”

Virginia is one of five schools the speedy standout says is keeping in consistent contact. Arkansas, Central Florida, Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State are the others, and Gray claims offers from all of these schools as well as UVa. Currently, Virginia stands as the school to beat.

“Virginia is still my number one,” said Gray, who has no other official visits scheduled but may take a visit – either official or unofficial – to Kentucky this weekend or next. “I’m taking my visit up there and then I’ll probably be making my decision.”
