Mike London and company completed most of the work on their 2011 class before August, securing 19 verbal commitments to go along with wide receiver Adrian Gamble , who pledged to the previous staff and decided to stick with his original decision, and safety Kyrrel Latimer , also a pledge to the former staff who is now in Fork Union Military Academy’s postgraduate program.

The Miami weekend — when at least five uncommitted prospects will be making official visits — figures to be an important one in closing out the class in strong fashion.

Of the five official visitors have been confirmed for this weekend, four are projected in the defensive front seven. Virginia has done an excellent job in recruiting for the defensive line thus far, scoring pledges from six prospects. Two sure-fire linebacker prospects have committed as well, but linebacker certainly is an area that should be addressed with the remaining scholarships.

In-state-wise, two of the state’s top seniors will be in Charlottesville. Coach London has made no secret of his desire to recruit the state, and persuading Travis Hughes and/or Demetrious Nicholson to come aboard would be big-time.
