Staying Positive While Waiting For Progress

The Virginia football season is over after Saturday’s 37-7 loss at Virginia Tech. The final 2010 tally: 4 wins, 8 losses with another 0 for November to wrap things up. The Cavaliers have suffered through three straight losing seasons and four in the last five years. At the end of Mike London’s first season on the sidelines, the question on many minds is “Are the Hoos headed in the right direction?”

In my opinion, and I’ve never been accused of being a pessimist for what it’s worth, the answer there is yes. The positive signs are there even if you have to search a little. The obvious place to look is recruiting where the Hoos have made in-state progress and rebuilt some damaged relationships with high school coaches. In addition to the commitments already in the fold, several high-profile recruits are still giving UVa serious consideration. Recruiting better is a necessary step to turning the Virginia program around.
