A Positive Step For Fan Outreach

UVa appears to be reaching out to fans with loyalty rewards and special season ticket packages.

The Virginia Athletics Department began selling season football tickets on Monday. That, in and of itself, is not news. Season tickets are sold, well, every season. Buried within the school news release, however, are some nuggets of information that suggest UVa is starting to reach out to the fans. For a pair of revenue programs attempting to regain success and bring fans back to the bleachers, it’s a step in the right direction.

Let’s face it after all – the stands haven’t exactly been overflowing and raucous on a consistent basis for Virginia football and basketball in recent seasons. The No. 1 way to fix that, of course, is to win more often. The Hoos hope they are remedying that part of the equation with Mike London and Tony Bennett newly in charge. There are positive signs in the early going from those two men, though plenty of work understandably remains to be seen as well.
