Top Target Update: LB Kaiwan Lewis

With 25 scholarship offers in the fold, St. Joseph (Hammonton, N.J.) linebacker Kaiwan Lewis has good reason to say, “Things are going pretty well for me.”

The University of Virginia has thrown its hat in the ring for the 6-2, 230-pound junior, who traveled to Charlottesville for a visit the weekend of the Spring Game. How was Lewis’ experience at UVa?

“It was great,” answered Lewis. “I got to see if the coaches were telling the truth. They were telling me I could come in and make an immediate impact. I got to see the depth they had, and I think I could get in there and compete and maybe get a starting job. I went to the Spring Game, then at night I hung out with Roy Reynolds and PJ (Perry Jones ). The next day I watched film I watched film with Coach Brown, so I got to see where I’d fit in the scheme. I had a chance to sit with Coach London and talk one on one. He told me how much they wanted me and that they could really use me. I talked to all of the coaches – Coach Dex, Coach Moore, Coach Brown. The whole staff. That’s the thing I like. They are all recruiting me and showing me the love. They are a big family there. They are definitely going to do big things. They have a top class coming in with Nicholson and those guys. They are working their way up.”

On Saturday, prior to the Spring Game, Virginia’s incoming freshmen answered questions for those 2012 targets in attendance. Lewis sounded off with a question.
