Notes: UVa Continues To Add To The O-Line

Eastport-South Manor (Manorville, N.Y.) product Sean Karl is the latest rising high school senior to verbally commit to the University of Virginia, making his decision one week after touring Charlottesville on an unofficial visit. The Hoos now boast 12 commitments in the 2012 class, including seven in the month of June.

Karl, a 6’6″, 295-pound offensive line recruit, chose UVa over offers from Buffalo, Connecticut and Syracuse. He is the third offensive line commit in UVa’s 2012 class, joining Fork Union Military Academy standout Ryan Doull and Malvern Prep’s (Malvern, PA) Michael Mooney . Virginia has accumulated seven offensive line prospects in total over the course of the past two classes (Mike London’s first full classes as head coach), and the staff may not be finished.

Analyze those seven prospects — the four 2011 signees and the three 2012 commitments — and you can certainly see a pattern in terms of what Mike London and company look for when recruiting the offensive line.
