More On B.J. Stith’s Commitment

As most now know, B.J. Stith verbally committed to the University of Virginia basketball program this past Saturday. B.J.’s father, legendary Cavaliers basketball player Bryant Stith, said his son committed to Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett before the William & Mary/Virginia football game. It was an exciting time for all involved.

“Before the football game, we walked in and watched the team workout,” the elder Stith recalled. “We met with Coach Bennett in his office. B.J. told Coach Bennett he wanted to be part of the UVa basketball family. Coach Bennett and the staff were ecstatic. They really made him feel comfortable with the decision.

“B.J. felt UVa was the school of his dreams. He didn’t feel any other offer that would come across would beat it.”

The younger Stith, now a sophomore at Brunswick High School (Lawrenceville, VA), saw his recruitment heat up as a result of his development throughout this spring and summer. Older brother Brandan, a junior at Brunswick, perhaps deserves a little bit of credit for this.
