Game Nuggets

  • Virginia trails North Carolina in the all-time series 54-57-4.
  • This rivalry series is the fifth longest in the FBS; the two schools have met every season since 1919. Only Minnesota-Wisconsin, Kansas-Missouri, Nebraska-Kansas, and Texas-Texas A&M have had more games in their history.
  • Virginia has won two straight road games at UNC.
  • This marks just the second conference game in ACC history to pair two African-American head coaches in competition as UVa’s Mike London and UNC’s Everett Withers lead their teams this weekend. London and former Miami coach Randy Shannon faced each other last season in the first such meeting.
  • North Carolina has not posted back-to-back wins against Virginia since 1981-82.

Mike London and the Hoos hope to snare an ACC win this week at North Carolina.
