New Name On The Football Recruiting Radar

Speaking in terms of pure athletic ability, Trent Corney certainly qualifies as a very interesting sleeper prospect.

“I’ve run a 10.8-second 100 meters electronic,” said the 6’3″, 243-pound Corney, who is also an accomplished javelin thrower. “I ran an electronic 4.5-second 40. I feel I could definitely get close to 4.4 seconds. I’ve run a lot of hand-timed 40s, and I’ve run in the 4.3s and even in the high 4.2s.”

The talented athlete has not yet received a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers, but he expects to hear something one way or the other within the next few days. Should an offer come, the Thousand Islands Secondary School (Brockville, Ontario, Canada) product seems highly likely to accept.

“I feel like my type of personality and Virginia would be an absolutely perfect fit,” Corney said. “Overall, I feel it would be a perfect fit if I get an offer.”
