Henrico Cornerback Has One Offer

Henrico (VA) head coach Roger Brookes believes he may have two major FBS prospects in the class of 2013. One, a shutdown corner and big-play wide receiver, has been offered by Virginia Tech. The other is a sleeper linebacker prospect who could be one to watch on the camp and combine circuit this spring and summer.

5’11”, 170-pound Cequan Jefferson is currently the Warriors’ lone major FBS recruit, scoring an offer from the Hokies in early December. More could be on the way this spring, particularly if he shows progress in the classroom.

“He has a full offer to Virginia Tech already,” Brookes said. “And Virginia is saying they want him to show he can get his grades up. I think they want to offer. Mike (London) and Coach Reid were down here to talk about him, so I know they like him. Michigan also stopped by about him.”

Jefferson followed up a productive sophomore season by running a 4.39-second 40 at an underclassmen combine last offseason. He produced again last fall, starting at cornerback while also seeing some time at wide receiver. Jefferson’s speed was evident on offense, where he caught 25 passes for over 600 yards (an average of over 24 yards per catch) and six scores.
