In-State Prospects Impress At Richmond VTO

Last Saturday’s VTO Sports Combine in Richmond featured some impressive talent from both the 2013 and 2014 classes. VirginiaPreps.com Editor Zirkle Blakey, who attended the event, took some time to discuss some of the top in-state performers, including a pair of probable 5-star defensive ends in Andrew Brown and De’Shawn Hand.

Hand, who stands 6’5″ and weighs 245 pounds, hails from Woodbridge High School. Brown, who stands 6’4″ and weighs 280 pounds, is a product of Indian River High School in Chesapeake. They were defensive line co-MVPs at the combine.

“They are some impressive looking bookends. Nobody could handle them,” Blakey said. “Both of them are great players, but both are also articulate young men.”

Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech are among the many offers Hand has received. Brown’s offer list is not as long at this point, but it’s still impressive and includes Georgia Tech, Illinois, North Carolina, N.C. State, Ohio State, South Florida, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
