University of Virginia head coach Tony Bennett took the lead role in the recruitment of shooting guard Matt Thomas , obviously a sign of how highly he thinks of the 6’4″, 195-pound rising senior. Coach Bennett was able to speak with the first-team all-state standout face to face on Tuesday, when Thomas was on Grounds for an unofficial visit.

“[Bennett] was kind of telling me everything they did at Virginia, and how I’d fit in there,” Thomas said. “I trust him, too. I think he is a super-honest guy. He thought there might not be any other place out there that fits me better than Virginia, on or off the court. He said he just thinks I’d be a good fit there.”
