Michael Rocco
Virginia quarterback Michael Rocco faced a quarterback competition with David Watford last fall as both players battled for the spot left vacant by Marc Verica . In the end, Rocco won the job and he started all 13 games for the Hoos during their 8-5 season.
Rocco helped lead the team to victories at Miami and Florida State. He finished the season with his best outing of the year in a 43-24 loss to Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. In that contest, Rocco completed 26 of 41 passes for 312 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. The 26 completions set a new UVa bowl record, surpassing Marques Hagans’ 25 at the 2005 Music City Bowl. The 312 passing yards established a new career-high for Rocco as he became just the second Cavalier in program history to reach that mark in a bowl game (Hagans had 358 in the 2005 Music City Bowl).
