Much of the Virginia football team’s offense is based on being physical and running the football. That mindset establishes a tempo for the offense and sets up many of the system’s play-action pass routes. If you’re going to run the football, of course, it helps to have talented running backs. There are no issues there for the Hoos.

UVa features a solid – and growing – stable of backs with Perry Jones , Kevin “K.P.” Parks, Clifton Richardson , and Khalek Shepherd all logging time on the field already. Jones and Parks headline that quartet after a strong 2011 season where the duo combined for more than 1,500 yards rushing. Jones piled up 915 rushing yards and 506 receiving yards in 13 games. Parks, meanwhile, added 709 rushing yards and 82 receiving yards in 12 games. Jones scored 8 touchdowns (5 rushing, 3 receiving) and Parks posted 10 (9 rushing, 1 receiving).
