Fresh off of receiving a verbal commitment from Crespi (Encino, CA) senior point guard London Perrantes, Tony Bennett and the University of Virginia men’s basketball program are set to host 5-star senior power forward Austin Nichols on an official visit this weekend.

UVa will be the first official visit destination for the 6’9″, 210-pound Nichols, a product of Briarcrest Christian School (Eads, TN).

“I think he has got to feel comfortable with where he will go to school. If he hurts his knee and basketball is not there, he wants to be somewhere he’s comfortable at,” Briarcrest head coach John Harrington said when asked what Nichols will be looking for on his official visits.

Auburn, Duke, Memphis, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt round out Nichols’ list of finalists. He reportedly has also scheduled official visits with Vanderbilt (September 14) and Duke (October 5), and he is expected to take official visits to Auburn and Tennessee. Memphis is not expected to get an official, but that is no reason to discount the hometown Tigers.
