The Sunday Sampler 2012 – Penn State

Henry Coley posted 11 tackles and blocked an extra point, which provided the margin of victory.

One week after receiving some criticism for their pass coverage performance against Richmond, Virginia’s linebackers responded in a major way Saturday against Penn State. Starters Steve Greer , Henry Coley , and LaRoy Reynolds finished among the team’s top four tacklers in the 17-16 win. The unit also added pressure in the pass rush department and did a solid job in coverage too.

Coley posted 11 stops and Reynolds added 9. Greer, however, led the way with a stellar day. He had a career-high 15 tackles, eclipsing his previous best of 14 tackles in the 2009 Miami game. It’s the eighth time in his career that he reached double-digit territory. Greer now ranks 20th all-time at Virginia with 273 career tackles, surpassing Kai Parham’s 272 stops.
