Game Nuggets

  • Virginia leads Duke 33-30 in the all-time series, which dates back to 1890. The Blue Devils have won three of the last four games, including the last two meetings at Wallace Wade Stadium. UVa has won 22 of the last 29 games, however, dating back to 1982. The teams have played every year since 1963.
  • UVa has only faced four other programs more times than Duke: UNC, Virginia Tech, VMI, and Maryland.
  • Former Oscar Smith High School teammates Perry Jones and Tim Smith are both closing in on 1,000 career receiving yards. Jones needs 39 yards and Smith needs 59 yards to reach that plateau. Only 30 Cavaliers in program history have hit that mark. If Jones makes it to that milestone, he will become the fourth Cavalier in program history to post 1,000 receiving yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a career.
  • Duke has named this week’s game as Military Appreciation Day, ACC Represent Day and Iron Duke Day.
  • This is the 100th season of Duke football.
